In a surprising partnership that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine sect.

The mission centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an special katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
